Comfort zone

I used to love saying ‘the life begins at the end of your comfort zone’. I even made myself a sticker (one of my travel photos with that quote above my head) that I used to stick everywhere: on my laptop, in my diary and calendar. I lived by that quote for a good few years, chasing the elusive dream, pushing myself further and harder. Until I broke.

When I first moved countries, I thought I’d always miss all those exciting firsts: brand new smells, colours, views, people’s faces, expressions, habits, all those tiny little details! I thought it’s going to drive me from one continent to the other, from one country to another. I grew confident that I’d always want to throw myself out of my comfort zone, again and again. Me: the real adventurer, a free soul that always goes against the current!

But then, in the middle of the recent crisis, I’ve heard a sentence that made things click inside my head: you’re not supposed to get out of comfort zone, you’re supposed to keep expanding it.
